Hong Kong is natural harbour, and this has played major role in granting it the status of major trading centre. Climate of the land is subtropical with cool winters and hot humid summers. Hong Kong had rich natural vegetation and wild boar, porcupines, otters, shrews and bats are some original occupants of its forests. The island also has good bird life with more than 250 species.
Population density in Hongkong is quite high with almost seven million people residing in 415 square miles. Official languages are English and Cantonese (a Chinese dialect). Three main religions of the land are Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism. Hong Kong has hundreds of temples, monasteries and shrines.
