High-end Shopping Spots
Financial and banking houses throng the area, and scattered between them are glittering malls of world level. Most well-known among Central District shopping spots are Bonham Strand West, Hollywood Road and Cat Street. The last two are particularly famous for antique shops. Central District hosts high-end shopping malls like the Landmark, the Galleria, Princes Building and IFC Mall.
Not miss Stanley Street when you are in Hongkong. You would enjoy even the bus ride to the place. Western style clothes, specially of silk, would be available in the street. Articles like Chinese artwork, costume jewellery, sportswear and souvenirs are also available here.
Hollywood Road and Cat Street are known for its antiques shops. Antique lovers can rest assured that they would get a thing or two of their interest here. Centrals stepped ladder streets are thronged by sidewalk hawkers. Des Voeux Road are also two major streets in Central District.
The Lanes are two parallel streets in Central famous for their shopping stalls. The two streets, namely Li Yuen Street East and Li Yuen Street West have number of stalls selling articles like watches, clothes, shoes and luggage. The Lanes seem tailormade for people who are fond of bargain shopping.
MidLevel Escalator and Walkway System
MidLevel Escalator and Walkway System, located in Central District, is the longest outdoor covered escalator system on the planet. The system is almost 800 metres long and has vertical inclination of around 130 metres. It consists of 20 escalators and three moving walkways. The system provides direct connection between Connaught Road in Central and Conduit Roads in the MidLevel.
